What is Planned Giving?

Planned Giving is a gift for the future. The Monterey County Legacy Program now accepts charitable bequests from your financial estate. You can make a bequest by including a provision in your will or living trust, or by naming LandWatch as a beneficiary of a retirement plan or life insurance policy. A bequest costs nothing now and enables you to continue to support LandWatch beyond your lifetime.

Gift Options

Your bequest can be made for a specific amount, for a percentage of your estate, or for all or a portion of what is left after you have made bequests to your family. To make a bequest to LandWatch you must sign a new will or living trust or add a codicil to your current will. We have prepared sample language to assist you in preparing your bequest.

A second way to structure your bequest is to add LandWatch as a beneficiary of a retirement plan or life insurance policy. To do so, contact the retirement plan administrator or life insurance company and complete the appropriate beneficiary designation form. And, as all gifts made to LandWatch are exempt from federal income and estate taxes, LandWatch will benefit from the full value of any retirement assets that were funded on a pre-tax basis.
