Attend Board of Supervisors Meeting Feb 28

Tuesday February 28, 2006
What:
An Important Meeting of the Board of Supervisors. We Believe the Board May Break the Law, By Not Putting the Community General Plan Initiative on the June 6th Ballot in an Attempt to Derail the Initiative.
Where:
Monterey County Board of Supervisors Chambers, in the new County Administrative Bldg, 168 West Alisal St., Cross Street – Capitol St.
When:
Tuesday Evening, February 28th, 6:15 P.M.
Participation:
Urge the Supervisors to Put the Initiative On the Ballot.

February 28th is the deadline by which the Board of Supervisors must “put" the Community General Plan Initiative on the June 6th Ballot. California Election Law requires the Board to either adopt our initiative or put it on the ballot. The Board has released a biased legal assessment of the initiative and we believe that a majority of Board members will actually refuse to put the initiative on the ballot.

We are calling on members to attend this meeting to demand that the Board follow the law and let the people of Monterey County have their say on this measure which will decide the future of Monterey County. Please come and bring a friend.

LandWatch Monterey County promotes and inspires sound land-use legislation.

LandWatch is dedicated to preserving our community's economic vitality, high agricultural productivity, and the health of our environment by encouraging greater public participation in planning.

LandWatch will keep the public informed about the status of land-use planning in the county. We will monitor the local government agencies responsible for land use decisions, and participate in the public process to promote land use policies that protect the environment, and that will maintain economic vitality. LandWatch is the only professionally-staffed nonprofit organization in Monterey County dedicated solely to this mission.
