Around the County Series Video: The Reuse of Fort Ord FORA Background and Current Plan

Every year LandWatch Monterey County hosts a speaker series on a land-use topic of particular interest. The 2012 Around the County series is on the reuse of the former Fort Ord military base. Fort Ord is 28,000 acres surrounded by the cities of Salinas, Marina, Seaside, and Del Rey Oaks. What happens to that land impacts the entire region. While LandWatch has worked on issues related to Fort Ord for some time, the topic became particularly relevant after the MST / Whispering Oaks project on the former fort was overturned on February 14th, 2012.

Introduction by Amy White Director, LandWatch

Tom Moore, Ventana Chapter of the Sierra Club

Kristi Markey, Chief of Staff to Supervisor Jane Parker

Bruce Delgado, Bureau of Land Management Botanist
