LAFCO Public Member Holds “Open House”

Come Discuss LAFCO Issues!

Public member Vince DiMaggio invites interested members of the public to talk with him about any of the issues covered by the Local Agency Formation Commission.

Date: Tuesday, August 19, 2003

Time: 7:30 to 9:00 a.m.

Place: Black Bear Diner, 805 West Laurel Drive, Salinas

The Monterey County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) operates under state law and has a big impact on the future growth and development of Monterey County. It is made up of locally elected officials, and a public member. As a representative of the public on LAFCO, Commissioner DiMaggio wants to hear directly from the public.

This is a great opportunity to share your thoughts and concerns with a public representative to LAFCO who is obviously taking his commitment to the public seriously. It's also a great way to find out more about LAFCO!

Some of the issues that Commissioner DiMaggio is interested in hearing about are:

  • The proposed annexation to the City of Salinas, with a small parcel for an affordable housing development without agricultural buffers

  • Continuing emphasis of conservancies to acquire land

  • Where and how cities propose to grow

  • Agricultural buffers

LandWatch encourages you to attend! For more information and to RSVP please contact Lupe Garcia at 831-759-2824, Extension 13.
