New Staff Positions At LandWatch

 

LandWatch Monterey County is hoping to be able to hire, soon, as many as four new staff persons. LandWatch is a membership-based nonprofit organization that works to promote sound land use legislation at the local level through grassroots community action. If you are interested in joining the LandWatch staff, to work on land use policy issues in Monterey County, please let us know! If you know of other persons who might like to work with LandWatch, we hope you will pass the word.

Applicants will be considered for the positions of:

(1) Land Use Planner

(2) Community Action Advocate

(3) Housing Advocate

(4) Economic Development Advocate.

Detailed job descriptions are attached. Below is some summary information, outlining the responsibilities and qualifications that are generally relevant to all four positions.

Positions Report to: Executive Director

Salary: Depends on Position and Experience

Responsibilities:

  • Promoting economic vitality, environmental stability, and socially just communities through sound land-use legislation.
  • Assisting the Executive Director in developing and implementing overall strategies, programs, and activities to achieve the policy and legislative goals of LandWatch Monterey County.

Desirable Qualifications Include:

  • Two or more years of professional experience
  • Familiarity with local land use policy
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English, and a strong familiarity with the Latin American community
