In addition to closely following housing and climate issues, this catchall page includes our other actions. Topics we have focused on involve multiple water  agencies (both public and private). Our focus with the Salinas Valley Groundwater Sustainability Agency mainly involves comments on the draft plans to ensure the agency is maintaining sustainable water supplies and not setting unrealistic or inaccurate metrics that overdraft the groundwater resources. LandWatch is also engaged in ongoing efforts to: expand the Pure Water Monterey advanced wastewater recycling plant, remove the State Water Board’s cease and desist order on water withdrawals from the Carmel River, mothball any desalination plans for at least 20-30 years when they “might” be appropriate, and, most importantly, support the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District’s voter-approved takeover of Cal Am.
