King City, though under three square miles in size, is the first main city when entering the Salinas Valley from the south. It sits along Highway 101 and its economy is largely dependent on the agricultural industry. Area residents need affordable quality housing to thrive and a development proposal came forward which provides adequate housing for low income residents.

• The project includes the creation of 51 apartments for low income seniors within the city limits.
• The project is considered an infill development.
• King City is the lead agency.
• The project is governed by the policies of the 2008 King City General Plan Housing Element.

• The Mitigated Negative Declaration was adopted in September 2002.
• The City Council for King City approved the project on July 12, 2011.
